VELVET'S STORY:

Her story is that she was found as a collarless/unmicrochipped, fleabitten worm-infested skinny stray in Tavares, Florida.  The lady who rescued her took her to the county shelter for photos and to give her info, posted numerous on-line found ads, placed signs on trees, and walked the road where she was found looking for whomever the dog belonged to.  Sadly, nobody claimed her, so I took her in, gave her a name (Velvet), got her dewormed, UTD on shots, and on heart worm prevention.

She was spayed and microchipped, so great prognosis for full recovery. The vet estimated her age to be 2 years.

Velvet is estimated to be under 3 yrs old, petite (just under 50 lbs), and playful. She gets along with every single dog - large or small, mean or shy.  She loves all people, old or young...When toddlers hang on her neck, she wags her tail and whole body and covers them in sweet kisses.  She's housebroken, but loves to be outside, and even swims.  Laying in the sun is her favorite R & R.  I have never put her in a crate, as she doesn't need it.  She's not a chewer, not a barker, and she stays off the furniture.  She's not food or toy possessive, and defers to my 19 lb "Benji" dog. Velvet is submissive and responds best to gentle, positive leadership. She walks great on a harness, and her only "vice", if you would call it that, is that she likes to chase squirrels. possums (and any other creatures of the night), and cats. However, when she was at the vet's office, she came up close to cats in crates, and submissively backed off.

And she's great in the car.  She is spayed and chipped.

Please keep this sweet girl in your prayers for just the right family.  She truly is exceptional; quite a "peace-maker". She approaches people with relaxed ears and tail wagging.  I can't tell you how many dogs have approached her aggressively, and she is gifted to know just the right body language strategy to let them know she comes in peace. Then it's all fun and games, and they're playing like bffs. I've been around quite a few dogs, and never seen anything like it.
