HELP REBA:

I have a 2 year old female Rottweiler I rescued from Miami Dade Animal Control earlier this year that I need to find a new home for. I have another female dog in the house (a bulldog mix) that is female aggressive. This a new issue based on jealousy, but it's not something I can resolve with training. I've had multiple trainers come out and the bulldog mix cannot be with another female dog. She gets that dangerous "tunnel vision" that cannot be trusted. At least thats what I've been told.

As you know the shelters are full of pitbulls and bulldogs...It breaks my heart to get rid of my Rottweiler, but I feel she would be easier to place than my Bulldog mix. That's the simple truth and placing her in another home risks her being in the wrong hands with her breed.

It's unfair to have them both kenneled for so long everyday due to their behavior issues. They're both too young to live that life.

Reba the Rottie is a very sweet and submissive dog. She is good with other dogs, but requires the proper introduction. She has a high prey drive. So, it is not recommended to be around cats or small dogs. She plays with my 5 year old daughter quite well, but my daughter has been around dogs her whole life and knows a dogs limits. If Reba doesn't like something she will let my daughter know with a growl. She has never bite her or even snapped at her, but my daughter has never pushed the issue because of mutual respect.

Reba sleeps in bed with me or my daughter just about every night and spends her days in the kennel or with a loose muzzle on because she is a chewer and a powerful chewer at that. She has an obsession with licking feet and will kiss you all day if you let her.

She is housebroken, but will probably need some extra time for an adjustment period. She has been in a home with another female dog who is not house trained. So, it's been a little confusing for her.

She does need training, but is EAGER to learn and to please. She is a rescue from Animal Control and has been abused by men in the past. She is afraid of them, but Reba is not an aggressive dog by nature and is only reacting to her past. When we correct any behavior she immediately rolls onto her back. She is very submissive.

She really is a wonderful dog that deserves a better home than I give her. This decision is weighing heavy on my heart because I've owned a Rottweiler all of my life. The Builldog mix is a mess of a dog that I got stuck with. I fear that if I find her (the Bulldog) a new home she will wind in bad hands and/or euthanized because she's a fighter (and also dumb as a box of rocks).

Reba is amazing and will make a great addition to the right home. She is also one of the prettiest Rotties I've ever seen.
