GUARDIAN
ANGEL
It may sound ridiculous, but it is right on time.
We believe that something is about to happen. Angels
exist, only sometimes they haven't got wings and we
call them friends.
from Grace Acosta, Gulfstream Guardian Angels
Rottweiler Rescue President....
I am sure Cathy Crespo will give you her report
soon, but I cannot wait to tell you what a
WONDERFUL event it was thanks to so many club
members. I am writing from school. I am going to
name the workers in Alphabetical order not to miss
anyone.
Gloria Alayon, always in charge of WaysNMeans. She
brought her grandsons and another school boy to
work and earn community service hours. One of the
kids, KEVIN, who is only in 8th grade made all the
POSTER SIGNS for the event!! A very creative kid he
is, we had the best posters ever.
Jonathan Arambula, has not missed one Oktoberfest
since he became a member. He has always volunteered
to build the game arena and work on the cook out. I
don't have to worry about the game arena, he comes
to my house the day prior to the event and picks up
the necessary equipment.
CATHERINE CRESPO - OKTOBERFEST CHAIRMAN - this is
the one I want to CLONE. She does... EVERYTHING...
she is on TOP OF EVERYTHING. So, if I write about
what others did, remember, CATHY was involved.
Oktoberfest became a profitable event when Cathy
took over 3 years ago.
LYNNE DELGADO, together with Jane worked the
Education and Rescue Table. They spent the
whole day at the booth passing out brochures.
ROSE DOAN, came very early and worked ALL DAY LONG
the CHINESE AUCTION TABLE. Helped setting up the
tent and the items and sold tickets all day. She is
now volunteering to run the obedience part of the
event for next year.
JANE DYAR, set up and worked the Education Table.
She brought AKC, Club and Rescue information. She
helped running the games.
PATRICIA FISHER & JOHN FISHER, came with her new boy
to the conformation fun match and WON BEST IN
MATCH. Her husband John helped set up the games
arena.
JOYCE GARNER, has not missed an event since she
became a club member. She and her dog won SECOND
PLACE in the Best Costume competition THE BIG BAD
WOLF AND LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD.
VIRGINIA GILLIAN, what a great new member we have!
With Cathy and Rose, she was there from beginning to
end at the Chinese Auction booth.
JACQUELINE HUMPRHIES, always PRESENT. She brought
one of her old ladies with her and
participated in the Rottweiler ONLY presentation. We
brought all the club members and their Rottweiler
into the game arena to show the public.
BEATRIZ AND FERNANDO JIMENEZ. Beatriz is always in
charge of the Game Registration. Fernando is
available to help set up tables, booth, game arena,
etc. He was also our SHOW PHOTOGRAPHER as our
"official" CPM photographer, JIM GARVIE, was not
present...:-(
THOMAS KNOBEL, has always been one our CHEFS. Tom
has been cooking at Oktoberfest for at least 3
years! We could not do it without him.
PEDRO LANZA, who owns All About Paws, Inc. is in
charge of running the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test.
CGC brings over $200 to the club every year. Pedro
has been doing this for several years.
SUE LARSEN, thank God Sue and Stuart are back in
Florida during Oktoberfest. She always helps out and
worked the game registration table with Beatriz.
MEGEN POSEY, came with her young male and helped set
up booths and participated in the Rottweiler ONLY
event.
LAURA PUTNAM - never, never misses this event.
Together with husband Tom Knobel, they work the cook
out. That IS their thing and I thank God for the
work done.
GEORGE AND YOLANDA RAMIREZ, George was working IN
EVERYTHING he could get his hands on. He brought the
tools to help set up banners, game arena, etc. Yoly
was in charge of th MICROCHIP booth. We made approx
$200 in microchips thanks to the help of MUELLER
ANIMAL CLINIC and SONIA!!! Yoly was also IN
EVERTHING she could get her hands on, and help with
the GAMES.
VINCE RODAS, the other half of Cathy Crespo, came
with Cathy early, and left LAST. Vince is really
Cathy's RIGHT HAND!!! Without him I dont think she
could get so much accomplished. Vince was involved
in EVERYTHING and together with Tom and Laura
managed to FEED the crowds.
LUIS AND MAYRA RODRIGUEZ, new members, came from
ORLANDO!!! They brought the little girl and their
young Rott to the event and THEY HAD A BLAST. Their
presence and support is very much appreciated.
MARLEN VALLE, the other half of Pedro Lanza, is the
CGC Chairman. She is the one who sets up the
testing and takes care of the registration. She is
part of the workers working the CGC test. Marlen
has been CGC Chairman for YEARS and until I retire,
she will continue to be! hahahhaha
NICK WARD, no matter what shift of work he has the
day before, he is always the CASHIER at the cookout.
He works the event all day long. Nick has not missed
an Oktoberfest since he became a member. And, I was
there sweating bullets.
I want to say that for an event to be successful you
need to have the people willing to work. Without our
club members participation an event as big as
Oktoberfest could not be done. I watched every
single person doing "their" thing. Everyone knew
exactly what needed to be done. I LOVE IT... and I
am so proud to have such great people around
me. Thank you to all. THANK YOU, CATHY. It was very
well done and I am definitely looking for the
address and phone number of the CLONING CLINIC. God
bless you all, Grace AcostaGARotts@aol.com I hope I
did not miss anyone.

Pet Awareness
We had a lot of fun setting up for this event. We
had rain early and so
the ground was
very wet. But Grace, Yoly and Palena managed to get
the tent up (mind you we needed the help of a very
young boy and Katherine on the phone to help us.
All in all it was a fun event and a chance to show
how great rotties are as pets and to show off some
of our rescues. Including Indy who was adopted by a
nice couple from Pensacola.
Ali was his
usual loving self. Wearing his adopt me bandana in search
of his forever home. He gave plenty of muddy kisses
and was given a lot of attention
There was plenty
of entertainment with Frisbee shows and other obedience
training including the Police Department with their dogs.
Yoly was the first to get a muddy hug and wore in mud with
glory.
Everyone seemed
to have a great time including this 200+ pound mastiff who
decided to take a break and get cool.
Not only did dogs grace the landscape
but also some wild animals such as
this fox who was quite friendly.
This little monkey was a big hit as he would sit on his
owner's shoulder
and meander
about the crowd. He was a somewhat friendly little guy
that was trying
to figure out what all those four legged creatures were.
And this little "stinker",
who really did not stink was so loving. He let everyone
told
him and surely was a big hit with the kids.
Joseph, one of
our newest members and one of the rescuers of our Tampa 8
little girls went around with all the puppies but then
decided that nothing beats his little rottie pup.
