HELP LUNA:

Luna's story:

Back in February GGARR president Grace Acosta, was contacted by Save a Sato (Sato means stray) an incredible rescue group in Puerto Rico that works tirelessly saving stray dogs from San Juan streets. Sidnia Delgado, a Save a Sato volunteer, wrote that there are more than 200,000 homeless and abused dogs wandering the streets. They are routinely dumped at parks, schools and beaches. They are abused, burned, maimed, and shot at just for fun. Many times they are driven miles away so that they can never find their way home again.

Luna was one of those dogs. She was dumped on the street when her owners moved out of the country. She wandered the streets for many months, fearful and hungry. One day a volunteer from Save-a-Sato met her and fell in love.

Save a Sato was hoping to have a happy ending for Luna, a 2 year old, 76 pound female Rottie. Luna wants a chance to find a family to call her own. Grace agreed to take Luna if transport could be found for her. Grace asked Diana Alcazar, GGARR volunteer and rescue coordinator, to find and coordinate transport for Luna from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Miami. Sidnia and Diana got in touch and after combined efforts to bring Luna to Miami, finally the time came for a better, brighter future for Luna. An anonymous person paid to fly her from San Juan to Miami International and a friend drove her to us.

She is ready to get that Forever Home that all her Puerto Rican friends worked so hard for.

She is spayed, fully vaccinated and also Microchipped. LUNA is very sweet, loving and will make one family very happy.

GGARR wants to thank all the people involved in this amazing rescue mission, the directors and volunteers from Save a Sato: Sidnia Delgado, Jessica Alejandro, Johanna Miller. Our respects for the incredible job your organization is doing. We heard many times that "it takes a village to save a dog", this time took the effort and commitment of people in: Puerto Rico, New Jersey and Florida to give Luna a second chance in life.
