SHILOH NEW MOM!

SHILOH'S' story from her first Guardian Angel

I am emailing you in regards to a dog that I need help finding a home for, or at least advice on finding more information on where to start.

Though an unexpected series of events, I befriended a man in the end stages of liver cirrhosis who has a 5 year old female Rottweiler who needs a new, safe home.

I would take her in a heartbeat, but I'm 21 and will be moving into a tiny apartment and starting graduate school in a few months.

She has been somewhat neglected over the last few years because her owner has been very sick. Yesterday I gave her her first bath in quite some time and conditioned her fur.

Housebroken: Yes, so long as she is able to be let out after she eats. I’m told she has been known to jump fences if she spots an animal on the other side of the fence, so I have been taking her on walks with a leash 2x a day.

Temperament: - Children: She loves kids in my experience. I have a younger sister that she absolutely adores.

Other dogs/cats: I have not been able to test her temperament around other animals. If I had to make an assumption, I feel that she would need time to adjust to another pet in the family and feel comfortable knowing that she was just as loved as her new brother or sister.

Shiloh LOVES water including baths of any kind. She likes toys a lot, but I have noticed she can be a bit protective over them and not always willing to share.

When I found out about Shiloh, I picked her up from the man’s house where she was being housed in an outdoor kennel and appeared to be neglected. She had a harness on that has caused multiple sores around her abdomen which I have been cleaning and treating daily and they are healing nicely thus far. Despite her condition, she is incredibly loving and thankful to have love and care. She has a healthy coat, normal appetite, and seems to be maintaining a normal weight. From my observations so far, it seems that as her owner’s health declined, Shiloh was given the bare minimum care needed to keep her alive, but for the past two weeks she has been in my care, free from her cage.
